How to make a PDF on iPhone

It depends on what you start with. Paper: scan it in the Files or Notes app. Photos: select them in Files and tap Create PDF. A web page, an email or a document: tap Print, then Share, then Save to Files. All of it is built into your iPhone and free. Below: the steps for each way, and what to do when the PDF has to be filled in or signed.

From paper: scan it

  1. Open the Files app, tap the More button (•••) at the top and tap Scan Documents. In the Notes app: open a note, tap the attachment button (the camera or the paper clip) and choose Scan Documents.
  2. Hold your iPhone over the page. It takes the picture by itself when the whole page is in view; if it doesn't, tap the shutter button.
  3. Scan the next pages the same way, then tap Save. Your iPhone straightens and crops every page and saves them as one PDF.

From photos: Create PDF in Files

In Photos, select the photos, tap Share and choose Save to Files. In Files, tap the More button (•••), tap Select and the photos, then tap the More button at the bottom right and Create PDF. You get one page per photo.

From a web page, an email or a document: Print

Almost anything your iPhone can print, it can also save as a PDF.

  1. Find Print. In Safari, tap Share (on iOS 26 it's under the More button •••), then Print; scroll down in the share sheet if you don't see it. In Mail, tap the Reply button, then Print.
  2. In the print options, tap the Share button at the top. On older versions of iOS, pinch out on the preview of the first page first, then tap Share.
  3. Tap Save to Files, choose a folder and tap Save.

Rather have a whole web page as one long page? In Safari, take a screenshot, tap the thumbnail in the corner, tap Full Page, then tap Done and Save PDF to Files.

From several PDFs: combine them

Select the PDFs in Files the same way and tap Create PDF, and Files makes one PDF of them. More on that, and how to choose the order: How to combine PDF files on iPhone
