How to convert photos to PDF on iPhone

Save the photos to the Files app, select them, tap the More button (•••) and tap Create PDF. Your iPhone makes one PDF with a page per photo, for free. Below: the steps, a quicker way straight from your photo library, and how to keep the file small enough to email.

With the Files app (built in)

  1. In Photos, select the photos, tap Share and choose Save to Files. Pick a folder, such as On My iPhone, and tap Save.
  2. Open the Files app and go to that folder.
  3. Tap the More button (•••), tap Select, and tap the photos you want in the PDF.
  4. Tap the More button at the bottom right and tap Create PDF.
  5. The new PDF lands in the same folder. Touch and hold it and tap Rename to give it a proper name.

Just one photo? Touch and hold it in Files, tap Quick Actions, then Create PDF.

Is it a paper document? Scan it instead

If the photo is of a letter, a receipt or a form, scan it rather than photograph it. Open a note in the Notes app, tap the attachment button (the camera or the paper clip) and choose Scan Documents. Your iPhone straightens the page, crops it and saves it as a PDF.

Straight from your photo library with Udfyld

Udfyld is an iPhone app for PDFs. It turns photos into a PDF without the detour through Files and without uploading anything: the PDF is made on your iPhone.

  1. Open Udfyld and tap Photos to PDF.
  2. Choose the photos, up to 50 at a time.
  3. Udfyld makes one page per photo, keeps each photo's shape, and saves the PDF in the Udfyld folder in Files (On My iPhone).
  4. Tap Pages to move, rotate or delete pages. Add text or a signature if it needs one, and send it from the share sheet.

Keep the PDF small enough to email

A photo straight from the camera can easily be several megabytes, so a PDF of ten photos quickly gets too big for email. Udfyld saves the photos as JPEG at a sensible size when it makes the PDF, and Compress makes it smaller still before you send it.
